Bleep pricing of digital goods

Hey guys,

sometimes I think Bleep are kidding me. EUR 13 or something for flac albums, almost the same price as the physical item. And what else do they offer? A crappy front cover jpeg.

This is a big laugh. If I compare e.g. with professional services in the classical music department. eclassical.com. Or BIS (a label). Or the british Chandos label. You get up to 192khz audio PLUS PDF booklets directly from source, with those print makrs and everything. THIS is service.

Bleep, sorry, #fail.

Also they can learn from Valve/Steam, how to sell stuff. With Steam sales they make sure anybody buys games, even games you do not play, by selling stuff which sell badly after a while just very cheap. They know how to make money and how to stay in front of all others.

I never buy digital from Bleep anymore. Are the prices reasonable in the UK? Because everyone else is getting fucked over.

i agree the prices are a bit what i would consider high, even for flacs, and yeah the art should include a pdf or jpgs of every page of anything that might have been in the release, imo (including the back).

Didn't they change their name to Blerp, due to multiple fails?

Bleep let themselves down time and time again. And they never seem to improve or learn from their mistakes. Or explain their mistakes.

Only way to let them know is if everyone stops buying from them. And selling flac's at that price there really isn't any incentive to buy from them. So just shun them.

Can anyone recommend good alternatives for reliable sites that offer high quality downloads up to 24-Bit? I'm not crazy about Bleep's pricing but i always go to them for digital, even if it is for MP3's because i don't know any other sites with that large of a catalogue that offers everything in 320 and above.

download from what.cd and then wire the money to actual artist.

Beatport is even more expensive, so I usually look at blerp first before buying at buttport. Buttport has got way more though. Also, i really don't need any pdf's or artwork with my digitals. Embedded cover is enough. If artwork is of any importance to the artist, i'd say you should build a artsy fartsy website instead of that physical crap. It's just a waste of space and valuable resources. It's so last century.

I have no problem with Bleep digital prices. I think it's a bit silly that they charge extra for FLAC but paying like 10 bucks or something for a brand new Clark or Aphex album?

FLAC prices on Blerp are a rip off in the UK too. As others have said, source your digital vinyls elsewhere.

As for the comparison to Steam, while I get your point, unfortunately the two services are not comparable - for the very fact that when you 'buy' a game on Steam, you're not actually buying the game to keep. You are buying a license to play a game. That can be removed from the service at any time, for any reason. And you can also be banned from your Steam account entirely, meaning you lose your access to your library of games.

When you look at Steam in that perspective, it makes some of the prices on there seem ridiculously overpriced.

You might as well buy the physical.

What I like about Bleep (and bandcamp) is that I can redownload stuff that I do buy (not that I buy all that often from Bleep, unless there is no other choice). Does anywhere else offer that same service but cheaper? Planet Mu allows you to redownload things 3 times but after that, you're on your own. Otherwise, paying an extra pound to get it from Bleep and know I can get it again (depending on worldwide apocalypse) is reassuring.

If Bleep did sales more often, like the one they did a few months back where lots of albums on Flac were 4.99, I would be buying far more than I do now. Are you reading, Bleep? MORE SALES

Unless it's a blerp exclusive, I go with Norman or even Boomkat now. Juno has some really competitive pricing lately.

Boomkat offers this service as well. Just checked, i can download my stuff back from 2009..

I do like strute records(belongs to !k7 now). they quote the same for 320mp3s and wavs AND for every CD/vinyl purchase you get the mp3s for free. not too idm-ish though.

Didn't realise they did this too. I logged into boomkat for the first time in ages and couldn't download purchases but after a quick email and reply, I now can. Awesome! Will definitely check boomkat as well as Bleep + bandcamp in future. :D

I laughed when my vinyl purchase included MP3 downloads but not lossless...

You pay for the use of Bleep, as they put tiny unrecognisable soundwaves into all their files that instinctly grow your penis by a few millimetres therby justifying the price tag.

Can you download the mp3 version of physical purchases from Juno and Boomkat like Amazon?
