KovalainenFanBoy
When it comes to downloading (always legally of course) an artist's discography, I get really anal about catching every single compilation track, remix, rework, etc. etc. In the age if soundcloud, bandcamp, netlabels, etc. this has been proven to be a real pain in the ass sometimes. Discogs makes a good work at compiling all these, but it's sometimes out of date, and worse of all, does not check for duplicates; resulting in 180 compilation appereances of which only a couple of them are compilation-exclusive (no indication whatsoever of this at first glance). So I say we make spreadsheets like this one made by a random watmmite of as many artists as we see fit, and maybe put up a website sometime in the long run. Goiter Sanchez
Discogs works fine for me. If something is out of date or not present just update/add a new article! I know what you mean about redundancies on comps though; do we really need to see all the 90s dance comps that used Basscadet when what we really want to see are the rare non-album tracks? That's my point; it would be kind of a distilled Discogs. I found the spreadsheet I posted inmensely useful, and so I thought there should be more. Discogs is great for when you already know what you're looking for and are familiar with the artist's discog, but if you don't know which tracks are comp-exclusive and which aren't, it's a pain Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide KovalainenFanBoy's signature Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/86093-hunting-obscure-remixes-and-comp-tracks-a-database-is-needed/#findComment-2262681 Share on other sites
