I have not made a panel but I use it all the time. Right now I'm using the Jd-990, and Midibox FM front end. The MidiboxFM one is totally solid, never had a problem with it, the JD-990 one loses connection frequently and certain parameters do nothing. For going through the trouble of figuring out all the hex strings for each parameter id probably rather do it in Max/msp to use in a Max4live environment.

I used ctrlr quite a bit to get Live communicating w/ an alpha juno 2 last year. seemed a bit convoluted when I was setting it up but it works like a charm. never made a panel either though.
