Sites that allow you to check for songs on multiple releases?

Is there such a site you can use to tell whether or not a song that is on a single also appears elsewhere, say a compilation? I'm asking mainly for things like b-sides, if there's any to find out whether or not the appearance of a b-side is on that single alone and worth getting, rather than buying it and finding out later it's on an album etc. Or, buying an ep only to find out all the tracks are collected later, meaning the ep purchase was a folly. As a frugal cheapskate of a man, this kind of thought bothers me.

The best I can get to this process is using the Bleep search function which shows up multiple releases should that song appear on all of them. But is there a more professional site that does this too, and not just for electronic music?

Thanks for your time,

Yours sincerely,

Bechuga

Discogs lets you do precisely that, by typing full title of the track into search. Sometimes it also gives misnomers, though you will check it anyway and find out for sure.

http://www.discogs.com/

It's a database for all music releases, just search for the artist and track title and it should show you all releases that the track appears on.

Well shit, I've knew about discogs and been there plenty of times but I didn't think it worked that way. Thanks!

You can use this thread to talk about other things now. Like...what do you like for breakfast?

For me, bacon, eggs, sausage, beans, friend bread, black pudding and a steaming hot mug of tea with two sugars.
