Why does every single shitfork article on RDJ have "Watch Windowlicker here" embedded at the bottom?

Maybe because it's the most popular track by him?

Nah, you're a wee child who can't wait for official release. Embarrassing. Shove your privilege.

I really wouldn't worry about it. Having said that I do know what you mean. It's like the 'Soundgarden Black Hole Sun Syndrome'. They wrote loads of other better tunes but the image of the band is forever hacked onto that fucking song (which ironically I've never liked from the start) . Even when they appeared on Sonic Highways it was the same deal Black hole sun, black hole sun won't you come...Does my fucking head in.

It's a pop hit I guess. And that's all. Still annoying though.

It could be related to your browser actually if you're using google chrome, doesn't it store information and target you with ads and content related to recent searches etc?

I'm on pitchfork and none of the rdj articles are linking me to windowlicker at the bottom.

lol. huge if true

It's definitely true. 100%. It's called contextual targeting advertising. You need an extension to chrome to block this.

I started looking at booking my trip to vietnam and now the company I was looking at (fnez) has ads on most pages I visit.

And it's only a small calgary based travel company.

I'm not sure he's talking about targeted ads. They embed Windowlicker in most articles about AFX, such as in this one:

http://pitchfork.com/news/58005-aphex-twin-announces-computer-controlled-acoustic-instruments-pt2-ep/

And the reason for that is because it's his biggest hit. If it were not that, they'd be embedding Come to Daddy.

^ cool, i heard caustic window on top gear once

I remember hearing Blue Calx on Top Gear once. The music supervisors for that programme manage to pick a few gems now and again.

some anti-drugs program on the bbc the other week was slathered in burial's discography

thinking about it though if you're working in the sound department at the bb motherfucking c then it's not very weird that you know who burial, afx etc are and use them over suitable footage when you can

I agree that it's not an ad. They always feature some past work (often most popular) by an artist when they're featured in the news.
