Howdy. I think there are a few people here with an ESX so here it goes.

I've been using mine more finally, and have come up with a good workflow based on the "sample stacking" technique made popular by that youtube ESX guy. Can't remember his name and I'm too lazy to google.

Anyways I've been making some sample stacks and then recording them in since I don't have a smart media card LOL.

Have at them!

I want to eventually write a node script that will take a folder of wavs and stick them together at regular intervals, since doing it manually in reaper is a big pain in the tits.

Add some samples! Tips!

Man those samples are great for me because I do an extensive use of my ESX-1 at the moment and I was thinking i really have to keep expanding its sample memory. I always end up using more or less the same samples (especially kicks and snares) and before two months I didn't get that much into loading more samples in it because I just used it for drafts. But since I use it as my main drum machine the needs are higher.

Honestly I didn't think I would keep using this box so much and also that I would use it one day as much as I do atm. It looks cheap with its ViNTagE™ tubes and its sexy red color (which everybody who doesn't own one actually see pink) but it's actually very well designed and powerful. Of course I never saw Elektron gear other than as pixels on my screen but if I was thinking for about one year that one of those boxes was the next expensive thing I needed for developing my setup, I now found other priorities and decided to keep my good old Electribe for some time still.

By sample stacking, do you mean creating a sample by layering several ones using the sampling function btw?

Well I don't think I have more to say about the ESX now, I just wanted to start with sharing the love I have for mine lol. Maybe I'll come back. Thanks for the samples again!

PS : ah yeah there's one annoying thing I noticed when loading new samples in it. Some of them are really quieter than others, I thought I normalized them in Reaper before I exported them, but anyway I tried to correct that by using the "Normalize" function of the ESX's Sample mode but it didn't help. So I can't really use those cool new snares I found right now. But I still have to take a closer look to that issue, there's probably a fix somehow.
