Female vocals of certain character

Been listening to an awful lot of Cocteau Twins lately, an amount dangerously leading me to an obsession with Elizabeth Fraser. I'd like to find more music with high-range female vocalists, with emphasis on harmony. Bright and crystalline. That might be a cheesy metaphor, but it's the imagery that comes to mind. Probably some resemblance to the sound of ringing glass.

Post cool music with lovely female vocals!

Cocteau Twins - Lazy Calm. Really, several of their tracks, but especially this one.

Asobi seksu - Layers

Grouper - Alien Observer

And to some lesser degree, these:

Bjork - Undo

Grimes - Genesis

Maybe I should have titled the thread differently, something like "Excellent female vocals." I don't want this to be too specific and limiting, just want to hear some gorgeous singing.

Dead Can Dance - De Profundis (Out of the Depths of Sorrow). As much as I love this album, sometimes I wish it were recorded/mixed a little differently; Gerrard has a great voice and it could be less distant at times.

Halcyon+On+On. Obvious, but can't go unmentioned.

Julianna Barwick - Pyrrhic

Here what I've been listening lately:

There's some really interesting cross-over vocals/electronic on N5MD label:

Elise Mélinand: https://n5md.bandcamp.com/track/sur-loc-an-featuring-ocoeur

if you like that type of electronic, I recommend you to also check out for label mates like Vittoria Fleet and Asonat. Quality stuff!

On the most "main stream" side of things

Submotion Orchestra:

Future Brown:

Great topic! Keep them coming :music:

what about FKA twigs?

I also love Katie Stelmanis from Austra ( I think she was trained to sing operatically)

I don't know if this is what you mean but I love the music you posted so we may have similar tastes, anyway, I have recently been enjoying One Dove's only album a great deal.

Also, how has no-one mentioned Kate Bush yet, or is she too obvious a choice?

"They're about guns, lasers, robots with laser guns in space. Monsters from the future. Explosions. Sylvester Stallone doing a backflip on top of a spike while Robocop carries a ghost up a mountain. Bombs and swords and that... IDM is awesome."
