Guest sonnyskare
This machine doesn't deserve a lot the bad rap! (I did have a midiverb iii to help though) Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/86737-mc-909-attempt/ Share on other sites
William Fields
Hi Sonny, Good stuff. A lot of nice movement/changes in the composition. Actually reminds me a bit of some of the old RDJ stuff that was just released on SoundCloud. Personally I'm not feeling the drum timbres, especially the snare. Sounds a bit "General MIDI" to me. You might consider more "custom" drum sounds. Also, it sounds like the whole mix was put through the same reverb. You might consider putting the synth in its own space and leaving the drums more dry. Cheers, -William Fields Thanks man! I was actually thinking of the rdj stuff while making it, but mainly just the use of drums in them. I actually thought it might be interesting to try to use the drum kits included on the system and make them sound 'good' (since they're all a bit cheesy). I can definitely see what you mean. I unfortunately only have an amp without a lot of low end to hook up to the box, since I don't have 1/4" headphones, so I had to guess a lot with how it might end up sounding. I ran all the drums through my midiverb and now I agree that it doesn't sound too great. Thanks for the feedback!
