Guest thisket
Orgasmic. Loved the melodic parts. Perhaps a meandering higher melody over the top. Maybe... Moogish? Very nice atmosphere. Zephyr_Nova
I like this. Eerie and jazzy, with stylish snare work. I too really like the melodic elements in this, the chromatic trills and all that. The verby, filtery pads in the background are a nice touch, gives it some sweet atmosphere. I like how the bass clips slightly, or has light distortion giving it that effect. It's the rare good kind of clipping. plastic
I like the first drum beat that come in there. Kind of took me off guard with the 4 on the floor intro... When the 'drills' come in though, they seem a little out of place in the mix.. especially the snare sound. It seems too real with all the other stuff you have going on, especially the 60's random pitch sounding thing going on sometimes. Overall I think the drums are a little too sparse for what you're trying to do with them.. They're good, but there's just this emptiness behind them which almost takes my attention away from them. Perhaps this is a style I am unacquainted with.. just never climaxes... you know.. like having sex without ever getting off. Guest Mrs Jynx
I agree with Chloroplast about the drum rolls/drills - maybe a little loud. This is a lovely track though. Unpredictable - you never know whats coming next. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/8679-pear-of-pairs/#findComment-175979 Share on other sites
Guest wasps
it's taken me this long to figure out i love eastmenth - just the right blend of organica with bleepy. what's been said regarding the drum rolls i would agree with, that also applies to the main synth sound when it first erupts into life - just a touch to high in the mix. great little track. Guest Promo
Yeah this was a journey and a half alright. I think I'm gonna need to hear this track a few times. I really quite like some of the harmonies they have a really trippy Eno/Ozrics/New age feel to them. As a track it does seem to shift around quite a bit but I get the feeling I'll need to hear this track a few times to really get it. I think the clicky drums do catch one off guard a bit as it does start with 4/4 rhythm. Don't like that early clipping that sounded a bit shit. Yeah seems to mutate quite a bit as it progresses. Its a little hard to follow but there are some pretty sophisticated atmospheres going on in this track. Definitely definitely needs more top end as some have to said. Overall the quality is pretty decent but it all sounds a little too mid rangey (need some higher frequencies). Overall some nice atmospheres and emotions definitely but the end product felt a little unsatisfactory. Nice production/feel and lots of positives though.
