How many Italians in WATMM ?

Recommended Posts

I just finished watching this PBS special on Italian Americans and even though ultimately I think national pride is stupid and irrelevant I do think that culture plays a part in influence and especially so in music. I am an avid collector of italian music in many forms from 60's 45's of italian music which is mainly funny covers of american music to the vibrant current day underground hip hop of my family s native Napoli. There is also tons of great Italian psyche and Prog rock as well as Jazz and all kinds of music that I think does have a specific italian sound. So that being said how many italian makers of IDM, Braindance etc etc are there here on WATMM ?

I know Polysick is from Italy and that netlabel OgreDung is out of italy. I am just curious if there are any italians from italy on WATMM as well as Italian Americans ? Also this thread would be cool if it turned into a list of Italian music artists that make this music that falls under the WATMM radar.

Don't worry I am not secretly forming an italian fascist IDM army

I currently learn Italian, coz it sounds real nice. In music i enjoy Sciarrino (alive) and Scelsi (dead), both made some of the dopest shit ever, still to be digested by anyone interested in producing fresh sound. There are others, but i'm not familiar with them.

Almost all of us

term IDM was "Italian Dance Music" at first, but was changed to prevent butthert of less important nations

Because we, italians, are very intelligent and kind to other people

i am italian american and my family has a home in tuscany

You are correct in that there is a ton of great ost/psych/prog/disco from the 60's and 70's -and all of it is very pricey on original vinyl.

Record collecting/purchasing in Italy is difficult and expensive if using record stores.Things pop up at fleas and thrifts but not with the velocity of the US.

Finally.... some of the best films committed to celluloid in the same era's are from Italy.

It's nice to see my brothers and sisters show their hands. Italy is an amazing place that I would like to return to and it would be amazing to play some music there when I return and I will return ........I will return !

All the info is great thank you all for posting it

keep it coming

yelling AAAA really straings the voice, and the tiny h really represents the struggle and hardship a vocal chord must endure for yelling AAAA
