recording to VCR

i heard about this a long time ago but never tried it. by reading websites i have found that some people say buy hifi vcr's.... better quality than regular tapes. but what i want is a fucked up sound, pitch warble and such. should i buy a really old vcr and old tapes, would that work? it's such a cheap idea i might as well try it i think.

what would be even cooler than that would be to get a song transferred to filmstrip audio and bounce it out of a film projector.

i got one at a thrift shop today but it wouldn't record for me.. my dad has a vcr that he'll give me though.
