This site loads slowly

Recommended Posts

First off, I don't intend any disrespect whatsoever. But this site loads very slowly for me, and it is crushing my computer. It's borderline unuseable on my main machine (which granted is a pretty old MacBook). Is there any way some of the bells and whistles could be turned down a bit to improve performance? E.g. the Aphex badger background, the CSS blurring fx, the header animation, the div opacity, etc? It seems pretty slow regardless of what page I'm on, so there might be something constant, shared between all pages that's slowing things down.

I would investigate further myself but it's so slow on my computer I fear that opening the debugger will crash Chrome.

Thanks and please don't ban me. Just want to make a good thing better <3

the Bandcamp embeds make my Macbook choke when loading the main page (Safari), but besides that it works fine

  1. Buy a better computer.
  2. Change the theme - I would recommend "WATMM Classic" either the regular or fluid-width versions
  3. Try a different browser - are you using Safari (and is it the current version, or 5 or less (since you have an old MacBook)?

it's a 2014 Macbook Air, and it's Safari current version. I don't really care tho, it's not my main computer (my desktop handles watmm just fine)

That's odd - I load up WATMM on a 2011 MacBook Pro, and don't experience any of that... Then again, I don't use Safari.

Hmm...haven't had any slow-loading issues on my computer. Depends on what machine you're using I guess.

I'm browsing this on my Ti83-plus scientific calculator and it's working just fine.

No problems here, on vintage devices or otherwise.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

My man.

Just chose "fasthack". I feel unburdened like I just took a huge shit.

I remember in high school kids in my class would play games on those things. But of course that was still some years before smartphones.

I would just try and make series of linear equations in the graphing section that would spell swear words.

Man were we ever cool....

Me and my mates used to write simple 3D raytracers and fractal renderers for TI-85.

So many used batteries from rendering mandelbrots for hours..

Called our group the Texas Rangers. Oh, to be young again..

I still have my TI-85 and TI-92, which is HUGE.
