It Follows (film, 2015, awesome soundtrack)

Recommended Posts

I was invited to go see a private screening of a new horror movie called 'It Follows' this next week for a friends birthday. He works with the SIFF (Seattle International Film Festival) and loved this flick so he wants to have a party at the uptown theater to screen it for all his nerdy ass friends. Anyone who knows me will tell you I will subject myself and others to some of the worst sci-fi and horror movies in a cheap attempt to thrill myself and gain cheap laughs. Anyways, the movie looks good, surprisingly- but there's more.

THE SOUNDTRACK - Listened to it last night and WOW, if you like old horror soundtracks, this one has it in an 80's way that is like the drive soundtrack but for a new movie. Disasterpeace did an incredible job of capturing the old gritty feel of 80's horror without too much cheese, it's really refreshing to see someone who's obviously studied the greats when it comes to horror/sci-fi scoring

Anyways, just wanted to post it up as many here seem to share my odd horror fetish.

title track sounds a lot like this, which Disasterpeace did for the Fez soundtrack. To the point where I've got a 'are you fucking kidding me?' face. But I'm intrigued at least.

Old news. This has been out for ages, and it's a good film with a good soundtrack. This was established in February.

Have you seen Only God Forgives? It's just out and theres meant to be some great karaoke scene according to my hip friend Horatio

it's not old news on watmm. you've even out-cunted me with this post.

I really want to see this film too.

"They're about guns, lasers, robots with laser guns in space. Monsters from the future. Explosions. Sylvester Stallone doing a backflip on top of a spike while Robocop carries a ghost up a mountain. Bombs and swords and that... IDM is awesome."

It's been out for ages I saw it in 2014 lol.

IN OTHER NON NITPICKY NEWS.

My review of It Follows in the film thread was:

9/10 Never sleep [with anyone] again.

Wicked horror, was ace in the cinema loud, I got very uncomfortable. WATCH IT.

I didn't realize it was old news, I was just made aware of its existence a few days ago, my apologies.

Glad to hear mostly positive reviews.

Yeah it's been out a couple of months, i'm very surprised not many of you has heard about it, the trailer and good reviews were around in January, its somehow slipped under the radar...but with Nathan G Dillon's life affirming epic Extropy hogging the spotlight maybe people don't have time for old school horror. It's not 21st century enough.

I watched It Follows recently. After reading some of the accolades being thrown at this film I was hyped to see it. Ugh! What a let down. It's okay, sure, but ultimately it's just one more teeny American popcorn flick IMO, no better than, say, The Faculty or I Know What You Did Last Summer. The best parts of It Follows are all derivative Carpenter tropes. I'd give it a generous 6/10.

The fact I watched The Babadook on the same day really helped to put It Follows into context for me. Now there's a horror film.

Because of just how shitty and non-eventful the Babadook was...

Really, it was just the moms inner demons? Real scary single motherhood metaphor with that dumb weakling child with a few added startling noises in scenes... The only remotely fresh part of that movie was the black and white circus scene when she's deliriously drifting in and out or when she sees the creature in the neighbors house.... Other than than, there were more laughs in the theater than terror.

Did you hear the Jurassic Park velociraptor sound at one point when they're trying to build 'its coming' tension?! I cracked up, it was just thrown in there and totally ruined any tension they were going for.

Just kidding with you, everyone is allowed to discover anything whenever in fentonland.

In other news.

Horror has definite demographics, I found It Follows fit in my perfect horror niche like so dank while Babadook I would feel the same if it never existed. I don't find that kind of supernatural scary, but haunted STD zombies that take the form of your parents / dead relatives is enough to make me scared to death. And swimming pools in a thunderstorm. Fucking invisible to everyone else ghost rapist parents.

The Babadook in my house I would have been like 'waddup I'm going to sleep'.

the ending is flat but really good, it pretty much implies that

meh... it just needed something more to make it memorable/good/interesting. My initial viewing of the movie was cut short due to a fire alarm at the theater so I got to watch it twice. upon leaving I was liking it... the second time around I started noticing all of the flaws w/ it.

I'd probably never watch it again, perhaps due to the cheap equipment, the cameras couldn't even take panning without digitally shuddering and juddering but I suppose that added to the bad trip once I was immersed and not paying attention to the quality.

I could barely make it through The Babadook because of that shrieking cunt child.

edit: I know that was the point, but that didn't make the movie any better.

Saw this at the cinema today. Really, really liked it, and the music was fantastic. Walked home afterwards with Tomorrow's Harvest on my Walkman to keep the mood.

I really liked the movie. Best modern horror movie I've seen in a while. Simple premise and amazing scoring help a ton to set the mood.

I really couldn't take it upon the next viewing and found myself just fast-forwarding to the parts that didn't have that horrible kid in them. I would have killed the thing or gotten it some adderal until I could pass it off to be the military's problem...
