ddrummondd on xltronic

Here's a thought - why not post this on xlt where it's relevant?

Or did you post it here since it would actually be seen and read?

*stops, realizes I'm already home, kicks off shoes and relaxes*

ddrummondd's posting some odd shit on xltronic

one of mark bell's close mates

anyone who has him on facebook?

no need for drama - just for a friend to go check on him

everyone has stressed nights, there we are

Every time I see that name on xlt, I think of Mr. Drummond from Diff'rent Strokes.

XLT was a hopping place back in 2002. These days it's weird that folks even still care about it.

There's a group of us that spent crucial formative years there; more than just building up a habit, we built a strong connection to the place. Many of us made close friends there, and even if we don't hold our conversations there any more, the place still has an emotional tie. In addition to all this personal stuff, there were just lots of ridiculous antics (as with any of the anarchistic forums) that made it all more endearing; the mass banning of prominent members, all the holes in the code (hidden threads etc.), phobiazero's weird relationship with the site (e.g., skyfarmer), etc.

(In general, it's a neat aspect of the internet that it manages to have places to congregate basically everywhere; http://www.xkcd.com/1305/.)

Imagine if ddrummondd from xlt was actually the basis for Mr. Drummond's character in Diff'rent Strokes. It's like how Mark Bell often posted on xlt, except this time the partial secret is that ddrummondd still receives royalties for reruns of Diff'rent Strokes, which enables him to smoke up, work on choonz, and post on internet boards full time.

So bittersweet..... Aaah, the internet and forums... Much like life-- so real and significant, yet so surreal and insignificant. It's nothing and everything and greatness and retarded all melded into a sweet cream of whatever.
