soundwave
Here's a recording of a live project my associate and myself are working on called 'UNIT 303' using two TT303's and a TR8 with a few FX. A little rough and ready but I hope you enjoy it. https://soundcloud.com/unit-303 More to come soon! Guest manaat
Alright, so this is over 30 minutes, so I really can't do a review of the whole matter, so I'm going to choose five places to listen for a little bit of about equal distance to be fair, and review those: 0:00 - Ahaha, I'm a bit excited because I love these types of tracks 0:19 - Hmm, I like what's going on with the wobbly line there. The drums do sort of over power all by quite a bit 0:36 - This is a solid groove! I do have to note again though that the drums, at least on my monitors, really by and away tower over all. Perhaps just download the audio file from SC, hit it with a little reduction in EQ and reupload. 0:42 - Oh! I actually jumped back a bit to listen to this again, really like that slide into the new bassline and claps, which is v catchy by the way. 1:22 - Ahaha, tbh I thought I would have skipped ahead by now, but I'm still engaged. These arps are lovely. but shortly thereafter I did skip ahead a bit, to 2:54 - Ah, again very catchy. And the kicks dominance is not nearly so bad now. This is seriously a very solid jam, I've really be impressed with the consistent quality of each section. I should say that I listened to about five minutes after that, but there just wasn't much particularly warranting comment, not a bad thing at all. I then skipped (though I should say I will come back and listen to this whole thing for pleasure later) to 11:10 - Mmmf, again bouncy, catchy, awesome. I should note I actually dropped my cursor down a few places before this and didn't like them as much (Didn't dislike them either, just kept landing in the filler spots you understand) so I'm a bit cheating here. I should also note something seems a bit off with this section, but when the high zwoot comes in it seems fixed. I should thirdly note (And switch up my phrasing) that 10:00 through to like 16:00 is pretty similar, so it does lose me a little. 16:00 - Just noting this section is v dope. 21:40 - Wanted to note that this section really is too loud, sounds very weird on my system. So yeah, hella solid jams but by the nature of having the same machine twice plus a drum machine is that it can sound a bit samey from one jam to another (although even this complaint you've done a far better job of mitigating through interesting changes than I would have suspected someone could with the equipment on hand). Try maybe replacing one 303 with whatever else is out there, but this is seriously not required. If I knew you were playing Brooklyn, I'd make sure to get out for it.
