Lissajous is a complex audio/video signal generator built in Max/MSP and inspired by the work of Jules Antoine Lissajous.

The media project is born with the purpose of investigating the relationship between sound and vision, chaos and order, closely related to astronomy, mathematics & physics. It explores the field of harmony and disorder and let the user dip into an elegant, dreamlike, minimalistic yet chaotic space which reflects the complex rules of the universe in all its abstract beauty.

The software shows sound oscillations as XY matrix functions and creates complex graphics curves. Lissajous graphically describes sound and allow observation of constantly varying signal voltage of two audio signals as function of time. Video generated by sound can be controlled in endless ways by giving to the user the possibility of a whole-new range of interactions.

Operating system: Mac computer (not ipad or iphone).

Woah looks ace, from the gui it looks max4live based - is there any internals that make it specifically mac based or is it just you haven't a pc version of max to test it on?

you don't need max to run it - it works straight from installation on your Mac. :)

Waaiiitt, you're the guy behind the ambient app too ?! Cool, whatever happened to that - I bought it a few years back but haven't really used it too much (Granulab has always been close to my heart for all things granular). Are they any plans for future updates of it?

Yes Audiobulb released the AMBIENT software: http://www.audiobulb.com/Ambient.htm

It's still up and running and very popular to this day - people use it to form unique base textures using audio they have already created or by processing audio from others.

It's actually the name of the XY sine-wavey curves used in the visualisation part of the application - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lissajous_curve. It could well be that Melissa Juice is named after these curves too

Haha, I'm the same mcbpete that emailed you a little while ago that was able to test it for you :)

We now have a Max for Live beta ready for testing.

This is a new update of Lissajous for MaxForLive. With this update, Ableton Live users will be able to use Lissajous within their projects, and to midi map all of its parameters.

Any beta testers interested in giving good quality feedback let me know.
