Any good videos where you just watch artists produce? Thought it'd be a good way to learn. Please state genre and link!

With most videos like this it usually just highlights the fact that no one knows what they are doing and all electronic music production is a myth. We are all just fluking, copying, making out we always used techniques/used certain stuff way before we actually do for some sort of weird claim.

Watched a good few out of pure gear porn lust and always feel underwhelmed. I prefer the mystique to music making. To find out that someone ripped a sample of a magazine CD or something as non imaginative as that is kind of a bummer.

I am intrigued to see what comes up though.

There's some interesting stuff in the Against The Clock series (10 minutes to make a track).

Another series with the same concept.

that one is really cool. There are many people having great results with FL Studio: Wisp, Slugabed, Lusine, etc... I guess I have to give it another spin

looks like a Nord keyboard?
A comment on YouTube says its an old emu keyboard. I'm not very knowledgeable so I wouldn't know if that's right or wrong. Edited by QQQ

Future Mag made some too. My favourite is the one with Nathan Fake.

The track he's making in this is "The Turtle" on Hard Islands iirc. I love how he looks both awkward and high as fuck, just fucking around.

I'd be pretty much just like him if people were watching me while I make music.

he is really down to earth. I had no idea he works on such a basic level

There was a Dutch blog called Eclectro.nl I was into that produced some very interesting videos from producers showing their studio and the process for making a track. English subtitles are availble, a lot of fun to watch imo. Mostly focussed on the Dutch house / techno / electronic scene:

Saw the fourtet one.

Seen it before too, but thought he looked like a fish out of water in that one. The Future Music thing he did is a good watch IMO:

Or the RB one where he discusses his live setup:

this series is pretty good but i get a little tired of the whole 'make something in 10 minutes' gimmick because sometimes the producer just isn't into it or really can't get anything interesting out. You don't really have time to experiment or explain yourself. This one is good tho cuz you see him making something out of nothing, he basically just has one shitty christmas album and managed to get something out of it.

would love to see more videos like this where the artist breaks down an actual finished track:

Not really a big fan of other Future Music in the studio videos, especially when they talk about the EQ of the kick drum for 10 minutes. I think anyone can grasp 'sound theory' like how things should fall in certain frequency ranges but it's a whole other game when dealing with the form and structure of a song. These two videos go more into the song as a whole rather than focusing on individual parts

Oh lawdie - that Rashad one has provided a friend and I many a laugh...man is so high, trying to fit that awful honky tonk piano bit into the song, hilarious

I love watching all those vids previously posted, great things to toss on while eating a sandwich or something!

Watching those I haven't seen. That Four Tet FM one is awesome. The Black Milk one is cool too, can hardly hear him speak over the music sometimes tho.

I LOVE this thread. Thank you. This stuff inspires me to make/work on tracks.

I've actually watched some that DESTROY everything I believe to me fun or interesting about music making but if we post all the great ones like the Nathan Fake one then this will be a source of inspiration.

I really like the Four Tet one with the MJ sample..it's a good method in Ableton. Good just for messing and making melodies.
