I Dream of Wires Now on Netflix in the US

Really hope this will be available in my country's Netflix too, from what I've heard this is really worth seeing!

Bob Moog...still remember going to see him speak @ my university back in April 2005. He passed away only four months later.

Pretty cool that Trent's on there too, even if people here make fun of him. I still think his contribution to music can't be understated.

Tadao Kikumoto ought to be an honourable mention too I think.

To keep it real and analog, I'm gonna start posting to WATMM by writing my posts in fountain pen on hemp paper, putting them in bottles, and throwing them into the ocean.

We were going to Moogfest like that year in Asheville, when Meat Beat Manifesto were going to play, then Bob died and the whole thing was canceled :(

Shitty :(

I've actually been listening to that new MBM pretty hard this week actually. Seems like JD incorporated more analog synthesis back in the '90s than he has the past few years, but that doesn't make him any less legit. Thought he had an ARP 2600 as well, but I could be wrong.

Wow, thanks for the heads up on this film being added. Will really look forward to watching this over the weekend!

"We do not know what things look like. We know what things are like. It must be a very limiting thing, this seeing."

"It seemed to travel with her, to sweep her aloft in the power of song, so that she was moving in glory among the stars, and for a moment she, too, felt that the words Darkness and Light had no meaning, and only this melody was real."

I watched this in spurts on the bus to and from work - this is a excellent, well made documentary - highly recommended for anyone who makes electronic music, and very educational for those who enjoy it but don't know the history.

Clark is featured a few times in it as well, as is Richard Devine.

I agree, he's boring and formulaic.

  • 3 weeks later...

It got added to Netflix UK recently, watched it last night, great viewing, and a great selection of interviewees from past, recent and modern electronic music production (great to see cEvin Key getting screentime, super talented and passionate dude). Planning a trip to Berlin in the near future and definitely considering checking out Schneider's Buero that appeared in it, anyone been? Worth a gander?

I didn't realise it was possible for me to dislike him more than I do, but his soundbites in the docu managed to achieve that :cat:

Stoked to watch OA II. The movement thing never bothered me, anyone familiar with Druidic studies will recognize the importance of movement to get to higher planes.

Yeah, it's worth a little excursion down from Oranienstraße or up from Hardwax.

Awesome. Just watched this on Australian Netflix. Even my non-musical partner enjoyed it. Couldn't believe Trent's elitist approach to gear though. Plenty of great music has been made on what he was referring to as 'cheap junk' and 'shit'.

Yeah, Trent is a jagass. Forgot about this docu tho, might watch this weekend. Seems like a nice way to start a Saturday.

Note to self; never bring up Trent on WATMM again.

I always figured him for an accomplished artist, but I don't know what he's like in person, or his interviews. Admittedly his last album would've been more listenable if his voice were altogether absent though.

Don't get me wrong, old Nine Inch Nails was flawed but good. Except the lyrics, they were always bad. Especially with Charlie Clouser onboard, they had some solid sound design. But everything after his departure I find unlistenable.

And Trent is a jagass.
