Jaffa
Backtothe80's was my favourite, a little too digital and clean for my tastes and there was a lack of bass on 386-inhosting which I think you could do something about. But man, when that synth hits about 3 mins into backtothe80s that deep groaning washed reverb haunt synth fuck yes!, you should use that sound as a blueprint for the rest of the tune, you can feel that, it sounds far removed from preset nonsense , nice bassline on this track to, very euro sounding but cool with it. Your music , do you use synth1 alot? Whats your gear? ZM85 has some lush dissonance and dark reverbed film ambience to it, but that kick drum doesnt fit it at all. I'd remove that, it sounds like 2 seperate aural parties, well thought out soundscapes and dj sasha beats clashing and getting in each others way. chim
thanks for your reply man. these tracks are all Reason, the subtractor synth mostly. i tend to use acid 6 with vst synths and stuff, and i have a pair of tannoy monitors with a mackie mixer lying here (but i cant get them to fucking work with my computer). acid 6's midi editing window died on me so i've stopped using the piece of shit. i'm not in possession of any analogue gear, but i'm hoping to change that soon.. oh and yeah, i forgot to mention, since my tannoys dont work i'm doing this with a pair of budget headphones, so i'm very stumped when it comes to bass and panning and stuff i just do these tracks for fun, like scraps and musical ideas. reason is very quick and easy to use for that kind of purpose. my midi keyboard is a edirol pcr-80 i'm waiting to fix the gear and get a hold of a microkorg and eventually an andromeda a6, but i like to waste time making little aureal sketches at least about backtothe80s, it's kinda funny that you mention the reverby synth because i personally feel like it ruins the track, way too unexpected, too loud and breaks away from the atmosphere abit.. but the sound is very cool yeah. i personally like the kick drum in the ambient track, it sort of gets progressive and a little hypnotic. i'm a fan of psytrance and really like its beats. i can agree that it's abit unexpected, but the track as a whole has a bit of a haunting psy feel. i really enjoy the effects sidechaining huge ambient sounds with a 4/4 beat, gets all pumpy. i should make a lot more ambient heres some more tracks, most are abit earlier than the ones i posted above http://media.putfile.com/aux-return - brian eno ambient ish http://media.putfile.com/hypothermia - instrumental ambient synth thing.. http://media.putfile.com/dnbtest72 - drum n bass http://media.putfile.com/dnbtune - drum n bass meets strings meets selected ambient works, really weird scrap http://media.putfile.com/impromptu-in-f-lydian - merry little downtempo thing dude i'd like to listen to your tracks but in all your threads theres no link at all at the beginning post.. explain!
