I'll settle for a vaporwave night

meh

On second thought

You right

fuck settling

and fuck bullshit sub genres

My thinking was

There is not current all Braindance IDMz what ever its cool to call it night in NYC

It's always mixed in with other more trendy genres

I thought it might be easier to persuade and venue owner/booker

to let us do a strictly IDMz night on a lesser attendance night

like a Sunday or a Monday

If the attendance for the music is less than the hipster nights

it won't be that big of a deal

I just think it would be easier to approach a bar that is hosting a vaporwave night

with an IDM night

than approaching a sports bar that is doing beard rock and bluegrass

Not that I know of.

The flat did (does?) a open mic for synth nerds on Mondays.

Might be worth checking out

I think we should be able to do proper performances

rather than an open mic

Are you in NY ?

I know it sucks

but we can change it

In this big city with its 5 boros and all the venues with in them

we can find one place that will be happy to let us play IDMZ and the like records all night long

Talk to the Tsunami Bass crew. They're extremely open minded musically, got venue hookups for days, and would happily provide sound for a night of intelligent music. I was already planning on proposing an electronica/idm/live production focused night after I play IDM on their system in November.

I live in NYC and I have been trying to find openmindedness for years. It would perhaps be cool to start opening a night for IDM in the way there used to be interesting nights in NYC. I'm putting a plan together to get a venue for my night for more complicated and noisy but atmospheric night than a really aggressive IDM or breakcore night like a night of minimal and Warp purple labels (i.e. DJ Maxximus, Mike Ink) outside of NYC. There is hope that when an audience is drawn into the sound that our night can turn that back to something for where I live.
