This is happening. Sorry if it was posted elsewhere. I am so very much looking forward to this. A window into his creation process maybe? Cheers!

Oh my, can't wait for that either. Love his suitably grubby pile of hardware synths, samplers & effects to go with everything else in the room. He must just lose himself in that place !

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

Cool as fuck! Though knowing next to nothing about music production, I'm surprised at how much hardware he has. I thought he'd pop a video in the VHS player and manipulate it with software, amazing he can make such incredible sounds, at least in part, with machines.

Not to spread rumors, but I thought over the summer he hinted via FB that he has his next album in the works.

i saw nothing about the creation process, you think for a trailer they'd talk about something instead of just glossing over old vhs titles. Is the whole thing gonna be like that? Just relying on nostalgia to carry it through to substance? If so count me out

I'd doubt it, the trailer is definitely of the "teaser" variety. Not sure how long the actual feature is, but a edumacated guess would be somewhere in the range of 15-30 minutes. Panning across room full of stacked cassettes gets old pretty quick, I imagine some interviewing, walk-thrus of process, etc. will be in there. Actually I don't know whether to watch it or not for fear of demystifying what has been an awesome body of output thus fart

Indeed

I was pretty stoked to see that Octatrack tho. Seems like his workflow is way jammier than I expected.

i thought all music creation in it's initial stages was.

Also, does presage what might be an intresting thing to watch.

Also, as well, i wonder if he hid the blurays when the dude came round to film. hehe. "no no no, don't open that closet" /cartoonish assplosion ensues

He is called "VHS Head". Said creator is going to showcase VHS tapes in a teaser.

It's posted! Knowing some of his techniques certainly makes his work no less astonishing. Moreso if anything!

glorious, thanks for posting. A+ on the video for starting with "jealousy", an absolute gem of a track.

whether you love his music or not, the fact that such music making exists at all is IMO fascinating. 30 years ago I would have thought, if someone told me, that just slicing, looping, and overlaying the current mediocre movies would just be some sort of postmodern art experiment; but it turns out it's very listenable and often very beautiful in a way that transcends the medium entirely.

Really amazing and I have tremendous respect for what this guy is doing and the way his creativity has extracted these lost melodies out of these forgotten tapes...

there's just enough vaporwave that is awesome and i will defend endlessly but yes, 99% of it is meh to crap and the fan base is often idiotic circlejerking at its worst...been burned out on it as a genre recently tbh (despite some nice albums this year)

well said, he's one of the best out there when it comes to innovating and pushing the technique of sampling

That vid reminded me of how incredible Midnight Section (the track) is:

I'll go one further and say that the whole Midnight Section ep is v. trill! Seems to get overlooked between the two big balls albums.

Ha! I've really got nothing against the stuff and can kinda understand its appeal esp. with the millenials & whatnot (finding intrigue in nominally pop/cultural esoterica from before one's day), but having come of age in the mid/late 80s it seems so devoid of creativity. OTOH you have VHS who's recontextualizing discarded acetate movie filler into something wholly unique, imaginative, and funky. I do love Eccojams though and still rock it on the regular.

Agreed 100% both statements. I esp. love his technique of taking small snippets of audio and swiping/smearing/stretching them every which way to make those sick VHS beats, like on Siege Express & that Underworld remix on the methlab mix
