Brisbot
I am currently browsing for a new sampler vst. I use Fruity Loops and use the default DirectWave and it serves it's purpose but I've never really tried to find some good third party sampler vsts and am 100% in the dark about any good ones.So basically the vsts you can throw samples into (multiple samples and map it to different keys) and mangle it in various ways. mcbpete
As you're a fruity loops man (and even if you're not there's an ace VST version) I highly recommend Harmor for all sorts of resynthesis & resamplying shenanigans - http://www.image-line.com/plugins/Synths/Harmor/ Another I've bought recently and is quite a newbie, but insanely powerful (again a cross between a sampler and a synthesiser) - http://www.uvi.net/en/software/falcon.html Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide all signatures I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily. Do you like it better than fm8 / razr / other fm plugs or better than sylenth / massive / spire or other subtractive plugs you may have tried? Brisbot
Oh I have Harmor and have used it extensively in my tracks. It's one of my favorite vsts.Lane I like it more than all of the vsts you've mentioned. Razr is like a simpler version of Harmor and with a bit of understanding you can do the same thing in Harmor as with Razer.Harmor is more resynthesis though. It takes the sample you input and resynthesized it additively, it's a sampler, but not a traditional one for sure. So it's a good idea to have both imo, if you can. mcbpete
Good shout MGF, I was going to suggest the rather hardcore Cyclone vst, but it looks like your link is exactly the same but with a UI that doesn't actually make you want to kill yourself (Cyclone is a cycle accurate version of the TX16W with exactly the same interface, meaning to load a sample you have to do the following) Quote Follow these steps to load disk images that contain Typhoon sounds: Click the drive to select an .img file. (This does not load anything. It just inserts the virtual disk into the virtual drive.) [system Setup] [utility] [7] or [+1] until you get to [Load *] [>] to [Go] and [Enter] Wait and follow any instructions on the display. Click [Performance Select], [Voice Edit] or [Wave Edit] and [+1]/[-1] to browse the sounds.Use the same steps for loading Yamaha disks except that you should choose [8.Import] instead of [7.Load *]. Notice that some disk images do not have Performances. Some don't even have Voices, just Waves. Furthermore, [Load *] and [import] do not automatically clear the memory before loading the new sounds. To empty the TX16W entirely, use [system Setup] [utility] [4.Items] [Delete] [2=All] [Go] or simply click the power button to reboot the TX16W. Mr.Sensi
Sonic Charge Cyclone, I absolutely love this thing. Quote Cyclone is a true low-level hardware emulator. It simulates all the important circuits of the Yamaha TX16W, including the main 68000 CPU, the proprietary Yamaha DSP circuits, the 12-bit sample memory and the 400kHz non-linear DACs. Cyclone not only looks like a real TX16W, it sounds like a real TX16W and it runs the exact same software as a real TX16W. That last sentence is worth elaborating on. We have not merely created a new virtual instrument with a vintage sound, neither is Cyclone an updated version of Typhoon. Cyclone features a full 68000 emulator that runs the exact same version of Typhoon that was released 14 years ago. This implies that using Cyclone will require a bit more effort than your average modern virtual instrument. But this can also be a very rewarding experience. Regard Cyclone as a time travel portal to an era from the past. The era of the monster dinosaur samplers. http://soniccharge.com/forum/topic/433-a-blast-from-the-past Shortcircuit http://www.vemberaudio.se/shortcircuit.php The biggest problem with Shortcircuit is that the attack doesn't go to 0ms. Kontakt is pretty much the best sampler I can think of, though. Massive tons of modulation, filters, effects, huge library, scripting, etc. Edited November 21, 2015 by Oscar Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/89337-your-favorite-sampler-vsts/#findComment-2393107 Share on other sites
Brisbot
Thanks for the replies guys, I'm going to look again today. The other day I tried out Shortcircuit and I like it. I wish I could get shortcircuit 2 to work but it's all buggy so i'm 'stuck' with the first one.I'd like to have a new sampler though.
