has anyone ever had a one-off vinyl pressing done?

Basically for a Christmas present I'd like the sound of my girlfriend's chickens to be put on vinyl, just the sound of them on one side and maybe slow it down so it sounds like an ambient track for the other, could I do this somewhere for a reasonable price?

"They're about guns, lasers, robots with laser guns in space. Monsters from the future. Explosions. Sylvester Stallone doing a backflip on top of a spike while Robocop carries a ghost up a mountain. Bombs and swords and that... IDM is awesome."

yeah, look into lathe cutting places. I'm not sure what the scene is like in UK but in Australia there are a few that can do one-offs; prices are exorbitant for just one but you may have better luck.

I've used vinylcarvers.com in the past, when there were not so many places offering this service - there seem to be a lot more now, though they often seem to be using pretty low-grade equipment - modded SL1200s and suchlike. AFAIR vinylcarvers were using more professional equipment, proper mastering chain etc, and the records I've done with them were pretty much perfect sound-wise. £20 for a double-sided 7", seven working days turnaround. Seems they have changed ownership since I used them though, but the setup looks the same.

This looks good, thanks, I'm not overly bothered about quality, I'll be recording the little buggers on my iPhone anyway so the sound quality won't be great to begin with.

Just got the vinyl and they done the business, thanks for the tip. Should anyone care here's the sound of a chicken slowed down.

A pic would be pretty unremarkable as it's just a plain black 7", they include stickers if you wanted to note sides though. Cost 25 quid for a track on both sides, the track length could be up to 4 minutes which suited me fine.

niice, thinking of ripping off your idea for a certain lady's xmas gift. Only replace Chickens with Cat.

I'd recommend it mate, they sent it out quickly so you'll get it before Christmas.

I wrote two piano pieces inspired by my girlfriend's favourite birds and pressed them to a 7" for Christmas the other year. As a bonus, some of my music exists on vinyl.

Nice.

beevinyl.pl is great. they do lathes and acetates (or whatever the one-off vinyls are) really cheap and the sound quality is great (for a lathe).
