soundcloud impulse response

load into a guitar amp simulator and this should 'soundcloud-ify' your audio, as in preview what it's gonna sound like on soundcloud and you can try to alleviate the soundcloudiness somewhat (you guys know what I'm talking about)

second soundcloud is after auditioning with the soundcloud simulator and tweaking a bit (kind of like dithering it mostly). Any thoughts

Edit: wow I think the embedded player sounds even worse. I'm going to try capturing an impulse of that. listen on actual soundcloud page for now plz

It's a novel idea but I think you need to master your ceiling at -0.7dB to prevent transcoding artifacts just from the mp3 waveform clipping alone. The frequency detriment is a whole other beast, but a slight 10-16 boost can mitigate some loss in clarity.

it is a cool idea but i don't think an impulse response will fully capture it because it's an encoding/compression process and impulse responses can't capture that. the encoding process is 100% dependent on the source material, so every piece of music will be different and there will even be tons of differences within a piece of music.

still a really creative idea though!
