Help Remembering Artist's Name

so, a few years back i discovered a french artist who makes very minimal electronic music that sounds like japanese horror music like this or this

i know the guy's project name was japanese and (if i remember correctly) was inspired by a japanese horror film. he'd also only released either 1 or 2 albums (maybe the other was an ep). this was around 2007.

does anyone know who i'm talking about?
