What are your favorite light shows from a concert/festival/etc

Over the many years I've attended gigs, I'd say a few light shows really stand out:

The Orb - Orblivion 1997 tour
Daft Punk - Human After All 2006 tour (the pyramid)
Pretty Lights - Free Press Summerfest 2012
Flaming Lips - Embryonic 2010 tour

of course, Mötley Crüe 1987 had a giant inflatable motorcycle, strippers, and Tommy Lee spinning around 360 degrees in a drum kit, but their light rig was meh, LOL

All I need is music, maybe a strobe if you want to sweeten the deal.

Strobes are pretty rad.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

Add enough fog so you can't even see the artist/DJ (or other people) and I'm good.

I can only remember one actual lightshow so I'm guessing I don't usually go to concerts or whatever that have lightshows. Anyway it was pretty decent lightshow for an ambient musician whose name I can't remember now.

electro mini-album Megacity Rainfall
"cacas in igne, heus"  - Emperor Nero, AD 64

I vaguely remember seeing Fatboy Slim in Brixton where he was in a big screen and they gave out glasses that refracted the light so it made loads of smiley faces. That was better than Amon Tobin's box thing.

The best would be Underworld during Moaner, around the 3 minute mark, obviously a simple set-up but it was fucking intense.

"They're about guns, lasers, robots with laser guns in space. Monsters from the future. Explosions. Sylvester Stallone doing a backflip on top of a spike while Robocop carries a ghost up a mountain. Bombs and swords and that... IDM is awesome."

Green lasers and mirror ball pendulums. Aphex Twin at the Barbican 2010.

Jean Michel Jarre. Everybody knows about the guy's love for light show, lasers everywhere, smoke effects etc etc but it was great nonetheless.

Justice during the Audio Video Disco made something interesting : they kept the same scenery as their last tour but added lights within the actual setup and it was great as well !

Also : I'm very jealous about you Rubin having seen Daft Punk live !

I love Moaner, you just need to forget that it was licenced to the Batman and Rovin movie. Great video clip by the way, strobe and smoke is the way

Really? Fucking hell. Yeah it's sweet, dunno who filmed it but I'm fairly sure that's my mate swaying in front of them.

glad to see Pretty Lights live up to their name

His music is standard American EDM fare, but that stage set up cost a pretty penny

I have many happy memories of Awakenings light/fireworks shows. Especially in de Westergas.

Quite intense when you're in front.

NIN

Slipknot (seriously, haters gonna hate, but if you haven't seen their recent live show you have no authority to criticise)

yeah Robin Fox's show is probably the best audio/visual synchronisation I've seen

I'm digging the current Four Tet set up. Its relatively accessible materials, humble but very clever and well integrated.
