Nosdam writes of the inspiration for the title track, “when the sun finally breaks through on an overcast day, Sisters was very much inspired by that wonderful moment… and the longing for it.”

Odd Nosdam - Sisters

1. Bow They Will ! ! !

2. Profane Bong Sue

3. Ten Echoes

4. Burrow

5. Center

6. Strng Day So Freee ! ! !

7. Sisters

8. Endless 432 (feat. Teebs)

9. Rained (for Lise)

--

Bonus:

10. Sisters (Boards of Canada remix)

I'm guilty for not ever listening to his previous LP's, only his remixes here and there which he seems to do a lot of. This is the first and it's short and sweet, 29 minutes of hazy summer beats with a nice BoC remix thrown in for good measure.

Tracks like; Profane Bong Sue, Burrow and Endless 432 are my immediate standouts.

Good call, I was thinking of bumping this thread myself this week. This album has still been on pretty heavy rotation for me, it's absolutely memorizing.

I just picked up the 'Trish' EP too. Goddamn, that title track is incredible.

Seconded. Really beautiful.

Usually I don't find the contexts/stories behind the songs super important to the actual songs themselves, but the fact he wrote it for/in-memory-of Trish Keenan from Broadcast makes it even more emotional. Those vocals!

yeah, amazing track. I was surprised the vocals aren't actually Trish Keenan. It sounds just like her though. It's actually a 1960s Norwegian Folk Singer.

Video for original version of 'Sisters'.

TV Evangelist Benny Hinn letting the bodies hit the floor.

that video is super unsettling, in the best possible way.

fits the vibe of the album really well. The album reminds me of waking up on the couch in the middle of the night after falling asleep on the couch with the TV on. Barely lucid, trying to find my bearings only to start tuning in to something super weird on the TV, like a Jodorowsky movie or some weird ass informercial. Also, still feeling pretty drunk/high.

A strange album, but imo one of the years best so far.

I think in the last few years, Odd Nosdam and Dalhous are the two artist whose work most closely resembles that eerie, undefinable quality that was once evident on earlier BOC albums.

This is arrived today. I think all the copies are gone now. Only found this through a tip-off.

100% agree with this. if you're a boc fan and you haven't checked out odd nosdam or dalhous, do yourself a favor...

Agreed. Kiyoko's Stone Tapes release is a must listen imo as well. One of the best surprises for me this year from browsing the new and upcoming subforum. The rest of their discography isn't as BoC esque at all but good.

1991 has gripped me just as much emotionally as early BoC, probably more so than any other artist. I don't know if it's everyone's cup of tea but I would recommend anyone listen to his two albums at least once.

This is the guy who made the hardware / VHS circuit bending stuff used for the visuals on the VHS release. One of the guys who does visuals for the Dallas Ambient Nights event series ATOP runs uses it as well IIRC.

I'm fairly obsessed with 1991. It's got that funny, uncomfortable BOC quality that was evident on their early records but had practically evaporated by the time MHTRTC was released.

I wonder what he's up to? He hasn't put out anything in quite a while now.

This record is easily in my top 5 favorite albums this year. I have been a Nosdam fan since 2000 and i think this is his most consistent and fantastic release yet!
