For me, at an advanced age (49), Emerson is one of the most important musicians of the rock era. Pretentious yes, but such an accomplished artist and so ahead of his time it's untrue. Literally he was the keyboard Hendrix, and took pop music into the progressive era. As important as The Beatles.

 

Synth music as a whole should never underestimate Emerson's input. Gutted...!

Was never a big fan of ELP but this track was amazing when I heard it a few years back. Something really haunting about the vocals and piano.
