"Two years on from his last outing on Antwerp's quietly impressive Ekster imprint, Hiele returns with seven more slabs of hard-to-pigeonhole compositions. Those well versed in the evolving history of IDM will pick out clear Selected Ambient Works-era Aphex Twin, Autechre and Boards of Canada influences, but Hiele is no classic Warp tribute artist. There's a quirky inventiveness about what he does, which can veer from the spacious, beat-less and out there, to skittish and rhythmically dense. Throughout, he never loses sight of the importance of melody, even when he's playing around with twisted acid lines, broken computer style beats, and High Wolf style psychedelics."
