I'm actually cool with him sticking to the same formula, he's got more of an old school hip hop producer to him anyway, I was worried he'd be trying to hard with high brow grime or some overwrought trap anthem shit

"Blast" (the single that sounds like his old stuff) and "Ghost in a Kiss" were alright but everything else was just so dull. It kind of irks me that such sterile and safe stuff seems to be the way to go for so many breakout producers. Oh well.

Right, exactly. It's similar for rappers too, Kendrick is one of the only exceptions I can think of. Listen to Ab-Soul's Long Term 1&2 (which are awesome btw), then listen to his more recent stuff. Goes from real and original to cookie cutter. booo
