Another Job Listing from a entitled twit

Hi WATMM

Here is another job listing I came across while wasting my time looking for side work.....Perhaps this one is worthy ?

Seeking radical part-time personal assistant (Downtown Brooklyn) hide this posting

compensation: 15-20/h depending on experience, plus perks

employment type: part-time

I'm a young entrepreneur with a million irons in the fire. I used to work from home, but I now work long hours in Soho with a new business.

I'm pretty great at getting things done--except for basic survival stuff. Like remembering to eat. Or my laundry. And dealing with hundreds of emails a day? I'm dropping some things on the floor that I shouldn't be. I need a professional caretaker, but I'm calling it an assistant so I don't sound like I should be in a nursing home.

My long-term goal is to build a small company to help execute my side projects. For now I need someone into the following:

- domesticity, e.g.

-- making lunches (vegetarian/vegan/raw preferred)

-- organizing / tidying

-- cleaning (making beds, keeping the bathroom respectable)

-- laundry (in-house)

- clericality, e.g.

-- research (getting quotes, finding stuff, comparing and contrasting)

-- statistics (very basic; I can teach you)

-- bookkeeping

-- banking

-- mailing

-- faxing

-- filing

-- filling (out forms!)

- running errands

- music

- technology (e.g. updating websites (if you can read and write, you can do this))

There's a few unusual aspects of this job.

You'll occasionally be in my office, particularly as we build trust, but mostly working out of my home. My home isn't your typical apartment -- it's an intentional community I started a few years ago with close friends. We live cooperatively. So while professionalism is important, it's equally important that you feel comfortable sharing space with people committed to emotional vulnerability, honest communication and self-discovery.

I'd prefer someone with experience or interest in living cooperatively. It would be beneficial if you have a meditation or yoga practice.

Spreadsheet, WordPress and QuickBooks experience a plus, but I can teach you the basics.

Major bonus points if you're handy or not afraid of handiness.

Perks include unlimited metrocard for errand magic and lunch if you're making it for us. If you love waking up early and want to be my gym buddy too (think: 8am) once we determine that we actually work well together, I'd be happy to cover your membership.

The work is highly variable, which for most people is also a perk. If you want routine, it may not be ideal. If you can't stand routine, it also won't be ideal since there are some aspects of my life that repeat.

Hardest parts of the job:

- I'm intransigent about some things

- You'll be aware of all my bad habits

- That overwhelmed thing I mentioned? Sometimes that makes me a bad communicator. Easily solved if you don't mind clarifying with me.

I'm not looking for a ultra-professional career assistant, but rather someone with ambitions who enjoys the idea of helping me out for a while on the way to something better. I've had a number of great assistants from Craigslist, who all have moved on to bigger things when the time was right.

My current assistant is graduating from me to teach theatre arts to kids. I'm sad to see her go, but she's helping me out by helping winnow down the applicants. Responses go directly to her, so if you have any questions about me that only she could answer, feel free to ask! She'll be passing on the ones that she thinks will be best for me.

PART TIME (15-20h/week or so). $15-20/h depending on experience. I'd need you to be free some weekend days at first to get to know the space, but typically working half-days during the week is ideal.

Home: Downtown Brooklyn (close to all the lines besides the L)

Office: Canal and Broadway (N/R/Q/6 and not far from A/C/E and B/D/F/M)

WATMMer's should apply

The minute I heard about the commune I was turned off

because at the very least if you are asking for this type of assistant you should at least be a wealthy piece of shit

so the assistant can learn all your tips and then put out a book and seminar that reveals the

secrets of the rich and reap untold fortunes from desperate people

But what kind of book would the assistant to his chick write ?

Sounds like an advert for a modern slave, a chapter for the forgotten, used then silenced.
