Albums like early Caribou (Manitoba)?

You could try anything Kieran Hebden. His (early) Four Tet albums aren't too dissimilar imo, but it's not the same thing. Also try this one from Fridge (band with Kieran);

 

 

Loden is also something that comes to mind.

Early Caribou is great alright, I still rate Start Breaking My Heart even if it feels like the rest of the world has disavowed this side of his. That Daphni recent-ish release was alright although I had higher hopes for it.

 

Definitely check out Living Exponentially by Tstewart (one of machinedrum's older aliases), it's probably the closest to what you're looking for I can think of.

 

And not sure if you know them already, but Fila Brazillia cranked out a bunch of great albums in the late 90s that increasingly blurred the lines between sampling/production/instrumentation, Power Clown and a Touch of Cloth being two of my favorites.  This is just it:
