Definitely a solid collection. That experimental post-Barrett/pre-DSOTM era was Floyd in their prime imo. Still, there's no way I can afford to drop £380 on it.

I heard something about a smaller/less busy/cheaper bundle coming out next year. If that's true I may have to indulge. The 2CD version seems a bit lacklustre

Yeah that's what I heard. Sounds good. I don't care for most of the stuff in the super bundle but there's still a lot of it I'm definitely keen on, so that's perfect for me.

Here's a track-listing for the full set... http://www.brain-damage.co.uk/images/media/complete_early_years_box_track_listing.pdf

re: the tracklist... Everything there is coming out in separate bundles next year, except for BONUS CONTINU/ATION which is exclusive to this box set.

the themes of favourite eras/years for bands like Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett, are a bit like Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac, or Pigpen era Grateful Dead

all bands that took a fork in the road after the pickling of a key figure & influence on their sounds

the sleeves on me early Floyd favourites should hopefully hold out a bit longer, quality retrospective doe

Floyd are in my top 5 artists of all time. It's a lot of money, and I will work the overtime to get it if need be, but Jesus that is a fucking lot of money and a lot of bloody overtime

Happy that these are coming out as separate bundles, as I'm totally interested in all of them. Also be able to replace 'Relics' which was always a wasted opportunity of a compilation.

Lol *lightbulb moment* I've just realized I can sell my Massive Attack vs Burial vinyl to pay for most of the whole box set. Which makes me really happy but also how fucking absurd is that?!!!

Most sellers on ebay want 500 quid flol. Crazy.

so how much is this going to cost ? no price mentioned in the post

I'm definitely in the 'desperately want but can't afford' bracket. Not even been able to buy any of the remastered vinyl yet. Separate bundles of this lot sounds good to me though, as the initial 2 x CD version seems largely pointless. Surely the first five singles and 'Vegetable Man / Scream Thy Last Scream' are essential, dodgy as some of them may be. Gve me £400 though and I'd preorder the thing now while jazzing my kecks in the process.

My issue with this is that I've been a Floyd fan since 1980  (I was twelve then), I have all the albums many times over (at least fifteen copies of Dark Side Of The Moon in various CD editions, all their other albums in Japanese first pressings, paper jacket remasters, SACD versions, Mobile Fidelity).

At this point in life, I am tired of shelling out for more Floyd.

This box set is mostly for completists who absolutely have to own everything by the band. The price is sheer greed on the part of the record company.

How many versions of 'Arnold Layne' does one really need?

This is the sort of release that obsessives buy, listen to a chunk of it perhaps twice, sort of get around to some more of it once, and never listen or watch the rest because A) it's all just so damn much to wade thru' , B) they realize they don't care about 50 years ago so much after all, C) they really have got better things to do with their time, and D) it's mostly dross. I've been one of those obsessives and finally learned what a sucker I was.

That's just my opinion. Don't flame me. I know everyone appreciates things in different ways. If you REALLY love PF, you should probably buy it.

That's another reason I'll be buying them individually, so I can choose those that interest me most (particularly the first one) and get into them one at a time rather than having a huge bulk of it all sitting there at once.

I usually find that with such hefty releases, the anticipation of bingeing on it all is better than the actual event. My attention span isn't what it used to be and I end up getting a sore arse and backache from sitting too long. In spite of that, I still want this. Hope I can get everything I want from the individual releases.

Ditto. When I got into Pink Floyd I was a typical teenage fan of their well-known stuff first and foremost. There is no way I could appreciate albums like Meddle when I was an angst-y 15 year old.
