FSOL - Digitana synth in progress

Recommended Posts

So The Future Sound of London are working with some developers to create their first synth which will be called the Digitana. From the little information they've released, it will very loosely be based on the EMS Synthi A (of which Brian Dougans owns one of the very first made, and they released an album earlier entirely made from) but with a much more expanded range of sounds.

It's featured in this track apparently

Interesting. Name sounds like a hybrid (digital analog)

Synthi are expensive though.

I don't think it'll quite be EMS prices, don't worry.

So Digitana are actually the company. And the synths are...

HALia

Another new project being developed in collaboration with The Future Sound of London. This is an all digital 'pocket' synth using multiple powerful ARM-based microcontrollers. Sonic possibilities are endless. Everything from huge pulsating multi-oscillator drones, FM-synthesis to Buchla-esque noodlings (and everything in between) are all possible. Imagination is the only limit!

The SX-1 is a 'stand alone expander' based around the Synthi AKS KS Expander (described elsewhere on this website). It is the result of ongoing collaborations between Digitana Electronics and the legendary UK band The Future Sound of London. It shares all the features of the Synthi AKS KS Expander but requires no Synthi to use it (though one can of course be used with it) and in addition has a host of new features described below.

That looks really good and really expensive.

Very interesting, although i would love to see the modulation patch matrix on it. I dare to say that might be a dealbreaker for me when the unit is too expensive (ie 1000+)

Man must know his past before challenging the future

Kitlist: a shitload of knobs, to many cables and a healthy dose of Acid.
