that "oooh" sample

there is this kind of "ooh" sample that's a bit distinct...

dunno where it appeared first, but I guess maybe animal collective or mgmt or so?

every 4th snare hit or so..

anyone can identify....?

really can't put my finger on it, but this specific sample was definitely used in some hip millennial musics..

I can see why it reminds you of a voice sample, there's a vocal quality in it. Then again it could be a tom-tom sound with a slow ramp.

it reminds me of that classical "space drum = piuuu tom" in some of the older drum machines..

Wish I knew the other more popular song(s) where this sound/sample is used.

IIRC its vocal nature was a bit more recognizable there. Could be tricking myself into thinking that, it's just a memory after all...

but pretty damn sure it was animal collective or something along these lines.. it's this kind of apple-advertising-compatible small chorus of hip twentysomethings going "ooh" but almost in a "weee" fashion?

ok so frankly that sounds nothing like the thing in the Death Grips track, but this is the thing I was after...

but it's probably some stuff animal collective just did with a microphone? or is it a sample?

but also, I believe this oooh kind of became a small meme within certain genres of music... i.e. is it just me or do you guys feel the thing in the Death Grips track is related..?

anyway would love an isolated version of that to mess around with, I cannot do this with my mouth

Record yourself or a friend trying their best to do it, throw it in melodyne to shine it up and add some fade to the volume and you're golden.
