didn't see anything posted about it but it's a pretty cool podcast. listened to a few of these on a road trip with the wifey recently. details below:

  Quote

Song Exploder is a podcast where musicians take apart their songs, and piece by piece, tell the story of how they were made. Each episode is produced and edited by host and creator Hrishikesh Hirway in Los Angeles. Using the isolated, individual tracks from a recording, Hrishikesh asks artists to delve into the specific decisions that went into creating their work. Hrishikesh edits the interviews, removing his side of the conversation and condensing the story to be tightly focused on how the artists brought their songs to life. Past guests include Björk, U2, Iggy Pop, and Carly Rae Jepsen, among many others.

I've only heard a few episodes of this, but I found this by their episode with The Books, on the track Smells Like Content, the music video of which is one of my favorites ever.

I was pretty delighted to find out that the lyrics are mostly nonsense constructed from random television surfing. Somehow I appreciate it more now that I know that not very much mental energy was put into the meaning/concept, although other tracks of theirs are clearly based on some form of philosophy.

aah! i didn't even notice the books episode (listening now). i just found out about it a couple of weeks ago.

saw the books like in nyc about 10 years ago. was one of the best shows (if not the very best) i've been to. their visuals and the live performance of their songs was amazing

Yeah it's a good podcast. There's one about Clipping's Work Work that was a lot of fun. Most of the bands they've had on I don't listen to, but they're still interesting to hear about
