I really really really want these but gonna have to wait for Juno to stock it. Shipping costs from Canada is too much for me. That said, fuck yeah I am super happy that these are out.

yeah so. i haven't bothered to cross reference but is there any reason to not just buy the album instead of the 2 eps? are you missing boner tracks?

There seems to be some differences. sys.rx.9.a06 is exclusive to EP1, Gemini Launcher to EP2, The End Of RX-101, Clatter and Hills Over Mountains to Like Yesterday. But since it's bandcamp I believe you can buy individually the tracks you'll miss depending on your format choice, or so I hope. Well at least those tracks that have already been given are available to purchase separately so fingers crossed. I only bought the album and will buy those two tracks once they're out.

 

And I'm a douche who is missing everything. Hopefully Erik re-uploads the stuff that didn't get released like he said he would.

It has become a pain to buy anything from US and Canada. Even the postage costs of small packets for cd's and tapes are ridiculous and I guess you'll have to pay even more to get your vax. I've had to limit my purchases from the americas to minimum. I only get the important ones.....such as RX-101.

I think the main reason is that for vinyl, the album is split up into two EPs, one blue, one red. Kind of a neat idea, although admittedly confusing for digital.

This is Jason from Suction Records - the label releasing Erik's RX-101 material. Glad to see that there are so many people here as excited about this amazing music as we are....

 

A few things I wanted to mention:

 

- Series -- just as we've done here with EP1 + EP2 + a CD/digital album, we plan to continue with EP3/EP4/album, and EP5/EP6/album. We're going to be releasing A LOT of Erik's music.

 

- the Soundcloud tracks that Erik posted were only the start... he's sent me at least 50 more tracks and some of them are KILLER. For example, "August '97" - one of his best tracks IMO - was not part of Erik's original Soundcloud uploads. There's a lot more great stuff that none of you will have heard before.

 

- Bandcamp shipping cost - I know that the shipping cost from Canada to Europe seems insanely expensive but that is just the sad truth of the matter. Canada Post shipping prices are some of the highest in the world. BUT I'm working on trying to find a cheaper solution - I'll post when we find something and update the shipping costs. For those who already ordered and paid the crazy high shipping costs, I'll be sure to reimburse you the $ difference.

 

- we will also have distribution in Europe/UK via Rub A Dub in Glasgow. So hopefully you'll be able to find these records in some shops/mailorders over there.... THOUGH if you want the colour vinyl editions, those are Bandcamp-only direct-order exclusive.

A little question for the experts out there... When does it make sense to have both the EXT CLK IN and the CV/GATE inputs connected to the SH-101?

I could be wrong, but wouldn't that allow you to use an external sequencer or CV-source to transpose the sequencer? Well, that's what I was thinking when I set up the shot. It was us (the label) that took these photos - not Erik

You can connect the cv-gate OUT of another synth to the cv-gate IN of the sh-101. Then select the arpeggiator of the SH-101 and use an external clock source to trigger the arpeggiator :)
