So is all this WW3 media talk just exhaustion from the US Presidential election, and fatigue for anything but Trump kinda journalism, or possibly a real conflict set to arise over numerous issues including the standoff in Syria? The news sources are wank at best, but I can't even find a reliable DEFCON status for America.

And since the banging of guns might have stopped for a while, the politics continued: that of domination of capitalism over communism.

no, because Russia is in a far far worse state than Europe. Their economy is a mess, if it weren't for their gas and oil revenues there'd be rioting in the streets.
