Rhythmic Ostinato Chorales

I've been making these kind of meditative ostinato sequences that involve layered and processed vocals. Shaping up to be a whole album of this stuff. It isn't quite ambient...it's something else.

here is a track:

and a video to go along but it might distract you

here is the most recent ostinato meditation:

https://soundcloud.com/happycream/ostinato-meditation-4

and there are some WIPs in between those two:

https://soundcloud.com/happycream/ostinato-2-wip <---the mixdown is hasty wit this one, that little doodly melody is distracting

https://soundcloud.com/happycream/ostinato-3-wip

this one needs some expanding and the bass is eq'd to loud, but the subtle reverb halfway through the track is like caramel to my ears.

i just thought I'd share these with yinz

I really like what I'm hearing :music: It's very haunting !

The first meditation's intro sounds like the A.G. Cook / OPN collab track released a few years ago - in a very good way.

Anyway keep up with the good work, I'm very curious to hear what a whole album of that stuff could sound like but you really have something great in your hands !

This can be turned into a general salvy ambient thread.

started working on some more ambient stuff that sounds a bit like the last track off of global communication.

I have some ideas for how this track can grow. I think maybe some soft piano chords, small vocal flourishes, some field samples of wind and rain or something environmental like that. Also start monotone and build up to the part that is featured in that snippet, not the whole deep bass part all at once.

These are really good, particularly like the last ambient track. For some reason some of the earlier tracks remind me of Eno. Would like to hear the album once it's done.

Very cinematic! I like it!

I think you're right when it comes to adding some soft piano chords. But don't go over the top with the field recordings because that shit gets corny really fast.

These are great! Loving all the heavy manipulation. I'm guessing a lot of stretching and granular synthesis was involved?

I really like how each track has detuned-sounding parts.
