why do people make BOC-ish music? what is the point in copying them?

every time i hear a song which sounds like BOC, but then i find out that it was made by some random guy who purposely tried to copy them, it annoys me so much!

argH! do any of you feel the same way? i don't see the point to copying their music!

Well if it actually fooled you and you thought for a moment that it was Boards of Canada then I guess there really isn't anything sacred about BoC's sound and you can go straight to getting the fuck over it.

i don't really see any problem with it. it's usually not that bocish anyway.

But I agree with you on the fraud issue, I really don't care about the 'quality' of early BOC stuff I'm just interested in whether they made it.

Sure, it's real clever to make people think they've got their hands on a new track but it's not something I'd be proud of.
