zoix
Hi fellas,This is a house track I've been working on, what do you think? Some questions:Does the piano sound fairly organic and not very quantized? Is the main part interesting enough or should I add some more instruments?Do you get tired of the strings towards the end of the track? https://soundcloud.com/zoixx/old-house Edited April 1, 2017 by zoix Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/92983-old-house-house/ Share on other sites
Ragnar
it's a little quantized, the clap/finger snap/whatever is either the best/worst sound and i don't even know. the 80's lots of reverb for noreason snare is cool too. it honestly reminds me of like selected ambient works i but taking place in a petrified forest. with this in mind it might actually hurt the track if you made it too 'organic' Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide Ragnar's signature Hide all signatures http://djsaint-hubert.bandcamp.com/ Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/92983-old-house-house/#findComment-2536626 Share on other sites
Auditor
The drums don't vary enough for me, but that's probably just personal preference. I thought the piano was fine, not too quantized. I'm a fan of sparseness in the right tracks, so I don't believe it's missing anything soundwise. As long as it makes you happy, u know? I would worry about the length. Idefinitely don't think it warrants being as long as it is. Overall, a nice little poppy tune that puts me at ease. Could use some cleaning up, just my 2cents Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/92983-old-house-house/#findComment-2536631 Share on other sites

Ragnar
i still think the idm petrified forest analogy is best Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide Ragnar's signature Hide all signatures http://djsaint-hubert.bandcamp.com/ Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/92983-old-house-house/#findComment-2536714 Share on other sites
cooliofranco
this works very well. i'd move the snaps/claps around on the grid and add some more variations so they sound organic- just a bit so it sounds living. i have Bbydhyonchord in mind as a model Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide cooliofranco's signature Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/92983-old-house-house/#findComment-2536755 Share on other sites
Squee
Ok, so I'd probably start out by removing the ride and replace it by a simple electronic hihat of some sort. The piano sounds a bit too random and the track is way too long. I do like the old school bass though. So yeah, it definitely needs some more variation and maybe cut it down by like 3-4 minutes.
