Pre-ordered this one, such a great roaster of artists, I believe this is the first 12" vinyl on FT? I do have the original Songs for Hannah Henley LP, but that was on a different label. Hype

Not quite, the vinyl in the 'Black Dog Traditions of England' was a 12".

i like how it sounds like he's just banging small bongo drums with various sticks whilst watching the sun rising in the background.

did you get the other tape where he does some singing? 

Yep. Sounds as if he is playing in a bath with wooden spoons. His music seems to miss the 80s and 90s completely.

been listening to this record the past two days. what a brilliant album. the focus here is about the plants history and their place within folklore. some of them are pretty obvious: arianna churchman's foxglove piece is pretty much a folkstory (with music) about how foxglove was once used. kelly jayne jones also does a narration (with sound effects) like she's under the effects of chasteberry. zoe naylor had one of my favorite pieces where she's giving the biological advantages of nettles. also i loved hannah leighton boyce's recipe. 

like any compilation, it's a little uneven (what the hell was hugh metcalfe doing?) while the usual folklore peeps have (conceptually) the strongest pieces. but the whole thing works beautiful as a whole
