crate digging tonight & Black Market Gardening & Power Clown got an airing after eons.....as so much music from this period tried the low-slung downtempo groove & failed, refreshing as fuck to re-listen to these lp's again. Like Two Lone Swordsmen, but with less paranoia

dont know if folks have gone through the Pork Recordings catalog? so many of their acts played around Housier venues/nights during this period without the ego gubbins

Love what I've heard, I have most of the Pork albums plus Touch of Cloth, I think Cloth is my fave

I often throw them in shuffle with mid-90s Two Lone Swordsmen

Love Fila Brazillia!  They're up there with Stereolab and Mouse on Mars for me in terms of being so bloody brilliant at fusing the electronic and the organic into something completely magical, which is probably why their musics hold up so well.  To wit:

Maim That Tune, Power Clown, Touch of Cloth and the first remixes compilation (Brazilification) are my faves but then you go and listen to their other albums and they're great too.

I've only scratched the surface of other Pork artists but Baby Mammoth are superb too.  Been meaning to get that Pork Medallions comp or whatever it's called.

Oh and I remember when one of their final releases came out (Dicks), the outer packaging on the CD had a sticker on it that read "You're holding Fila Brazillia's DICKS in your hand"

Baby Mammoth put out some superb releases, def 1 of those acts if their records were in-store/new = instant turntable perusal

dunno if any1 got the free cartoon booklet with various editions of FB's Power Clown? genius silly little story/illustrations of things like alcoholic tramps on desert islands, Luck Be a Weirdo with that strange rabbit sleeve got caned to fk & back too

Pork used to do a Monday night comedown session in Nottingham called Served Chilled with DiY in the early/mid 90's, immense record collections that never overdid the lazy vibe, loads of jazz & obscurities......a lot of the folks who were involved with that promotion ended up on DiY's Served Chilled lp series, some hidden gems/collaborations in among this lot right off the Pork label vibe:

Thanks to Ninja Tune wizards for introducing me to this track, an absolute beauty.

A couple of times a year I go back and listen to all their albums in a row, really love them, well up to A Touch of Cloth, the ones after were ok, but not up there with the standard of the previous bunch (their first one wasn't that amazing either, though still pretty good, closer to a straight house vibe on that one). And spot on Bob, they really were kings of creating a totally organic feel from perfectly melding the synths and samples.

Just wanted to say I discovered this album from Pork Recordings that’s way at the end of the label’s life, a deep cut from an obscure artist named Referencered, from American musician Doug McCluskey. The album is called “For Your Safety”, and it is one of the worst IDM/Downtempo albums I ever heard. I have some friends who agree and disagree, but it’s easy to find on Spotify (under Referenced). The music is so basic, and that style is how McCluskey rolls. It’s also playful like Luke Vibert under his Wagon Christ persona, except really repetitive and not good. 

I’m sure mine is a hot take, but lemme know what you think. I will say this guy has a good tune called “Orange Leaf” on his Soundcloud.
