Help me identify this melody

I've been tripping over old Turkish music lately and I just found this melody by Baris Manco (check out his Lambaya Puf De tune)

...but at 0:55 a melody starts playing and I'm pretty sure he stole it from a soundtrack or a Vangelis tune or something? Can you guys identify it?

Familiar melody, but cant place it. Don't think its vang. Thinking more in the soundtrack department. Sounds really familiar... annoyingly. Somehow think about some movie from the seventies.

Yeah, I'm getting a 70s vibe as well... it's annoying the living shit out me that I can't identify it

Damn, that's gonna drive me crazy to now. I definitely recognize it. I think your right about it being from a 70's/80's ost. 

Could swear I've heard the same melody sampled on a hip hop track...

And it is sampled in some hip hop song (one w really fucked up lyrics)

I wanna say it's from The Godfather but i just listened through the score and i didnt find it
