Man this is fucking good. I'm shocked to say this in 2017 but one of my favorites of the year, both in indie rock and in general.

One listen and, yeah, it's really good. Good energy, good melodies, good performances. Will probably end up rating this one higher than Forgiveness Rock Record.

Yo this is good. And I too can't seem to like the newer indie rock types. Very unlikely there really is something lacking in mac demarco. More likely I'm just getting old.

All seriousness, love Angel Olsen. Love Beach Spouse, I mean, Beach House as well, they are about as trendy it seems. DeMarco is fun but haven't gotten the cult of personality so much. Last FJM album was a bore fest, maybe it's a grower but I can't seem to muster the effort/time/place to listen to it. He's ok but again I find his critical darling status baffling. Can't fucking stand Car Seat Headrest but nothing against the kid - it was weird, almost neat even seeing him go from being a bedroom pop self-released cassette artist to a major indie signing.

edgy for the sake of being edgy basically. I just dislike his entire persona, it strikes me as ridiculously inauthentic and pandering

this was my sister's favourite band when she started reading Pitchfork and following the indie scene 10 years ago.

i once got a mix cd from a girlfriend and like 7 of the 15 songs were BSS and the genre tag for the whole thing was "fucking indie"

this was 2008 so yeah
