ceiling
I'm looking for a good filter plugin, preferably an Audio Unit. Been using Logic's Auto Filter for ages and It kinda sucks. I need something that has LFO's within the plugin itself to control the cutoff etc. can't be bothered with automating filters. Any recommendations? I've got a decent budget Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/93759-looking-for-a-good-filter-plugin/ Share on other sites

mcbpete
Cytomic's The Drop is an absolute beast in analogue sounding filters - https://cytomic.com/drop As mentioned FabFilter's Volcano is good too it you need a bit more 'clinical' filtering. TubularCorporation
I was always fond of the Ohmboys filters too, although I haven't used them in ages. Also, don't forget that Reaktor is pretty affordable these days and has some good filters plus so, so much more. If you're in the price range of Volcano already you're already a good part of the way there. ceiling
Downloaded a demo of Volcano but was instantly kind of put off by it's complexity, was looking for something a lot more straight to the point. The only function I need is the ability to control the filter via LFO's within the plugin itself. I'm just over the sound of Logic's auto filter. Simple functions and great quality filter sound is what I'm looking for. I'm gonna check out Cytomic and Etch now : ) Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/93759-looking-for-a-good-filter-plugin/#findComment-2570803 Share on other sites

I still think Reaktor's a good option, because the Blocks mode they introduced in the last version lets you keep things really simple if that's what you want. It really can be as simple as just this: Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide TubularCorporation's signature Hide all signatures Lagoon City (from here to eternity/when I'm sick of it) Codemus2x43 (2013-14) Golfhammer 40,000 (2014-15) Tubular Corporation (2016-17) THawkins' archive of our livestreams since 2020 Instagram (new releases, music bullshit, non-music bullshit and sometimes photos of my lunch) Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/93759-looking-for-a-good-filter-plugin/#findComment-2571516 Share on other sites
ceiling
After trying them all out i've decided to go with Volcano. It's got a great GUI and the sound is perfect, some of the other plugins sounded good but their just too ugly. On a separate note has anyone got Fabfilter One? I downloaded the demo whilst looking at volcano and just tried it out now. The cutoff and peak filter is crazy, closest analogue filter emulation I've heard. Not saying it comes close to the sound of an analog filter but it's definitely one of the best filter sounds i've heard coming from a plugin. I'm talking about fabfilters 'one' and not their actual filter plugin 'volcano' by the way. 'One' is just a softsynth that happens to have a great filter sound. Looking forward to your review!
