Aphex Twin article/tech interview in latest MagPi magazine (Raspberry Pi) / MidiMutant

...and luckily on their site as a preview to this issue they actually have the double page spread of the article in question (you'll have to get really close to your screen)

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

I wonder if Richard has like 20 of those mutating overnight on different synths. It sounds like a very cool way to make music in that whatever you choose as your input is 100% you, but the end result could take you somewhere you likely never would have ended up at that still resonates so strongly. Weird. Also, this whole mutation thing sounds very similar to something he said some Chinese lady was working on for him in the SC comments a couple years back. I'm excited to hear Richard's evolved sound.

curious if he wants to make this public. not sure if I want them to to be honest

wat? It's in a publication that's free to download ( https://www.raspberrypi.org/magpi/issues/65/ ) so I think he would know going in that any info he or dave shared would go public. Sorry, I don't follow what your comment is in reference to. You don't want the midi-mutant to become public maybe?

Ghetto rustic chic for the middle class music producer

Laser cutting wood burns the edge of course, but also the flame tends to drift = brown streaks on the surface as well

Ah, it's wood - interesting choice for an enclosure; most Pi cases are 3D printed, etc.

I sorta would like it to be out there to see what people get from it to evolve their own sound but it would probably also be an easy tool for quick faux braindance pad/part recreation without enough experimentation of your own ideas being part of the end product.

i'm really tired and this might not make much sense.

that being said I would love to feed it recordings of the hum phenomenon (also my 488mk2 beautiful lowest pitch hum), my friends talking, police radios and me own renoise recordings  :music:
