I've wanted to get a pet for a while but can't have a cat or dog in my apartment. I'm allowed to get a small pet or cage animal but I'm not sure what to get because a lot of them are anti-social or die within 2-3 years. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Also, post pictures of your pets.

Can't remember exactly how old she is (I think it's a she, can't remember) but must be around 15 years. It's like a living pet rock

I have a bearded dragon who is a cool dude. Once their environment is set up they're pretty straight forward to look after. He likes to sleep on me whilst I watch TV or something.

My aunt gave me some leaf and stick insects for Christmas as well, for some reason. Extremely chill dudes.

Stoked to watch OA II. The movement thing never bothered me, anyone familiar with Druidic studies will recognize the importance of movement to get to higher planes.

just get a child. you can make one. seems to be the standard thing to do once you hit a certain age.

the big plus of having a child over any other kind of pet is that they can actually talk in your language. so when you say "oi, off the counter" or "in your cage, now" they understand more easily.

I have a spider buddy in the kitchen. He eats the fruit flies & is a great listener. Maybe give that a try?

Beta fish.

Cheap as hell and they actually live awhile with proper care. No filter needed, just clean the rocks / decor regularly when you change the water out. We had one for over 2 years. Even drove him 2.5 hours in a little cupholder and had someone watch him for a week. My mom had one for over 5, little dude even got a bit gray from age. If you live somewhere cold you can get a cheap little warmer to put in the fish bowl.

If you need a land creature I'd say a lizard or turtle in a spacious terrarium. Had a coworker who had a bird and it was quite a social little creature. I'd probably stay away from hamsters and bunnies.

No idea if you get geckos in Philly but we have like a dozen around our house outside at all times, they make great porch / patio residents.

I'm considering it. I've seen some very cool betas. We don't get geckos but I saw them all over the place when I visited South Carolina.

I took bites from my old pet python as well my old pet floppy bunny. I found the snake bite to be more pleasant.

No greater pet than a pupper but they infiltrate your mind and then die and you forever have to choke back the urge to bawl whenever you run across dog posts on the internet and loads of years go by and it still happens.

No ragrets though. Best pet.

Also, a lot of work. Please don't buy a pup if you're a casual.
