Kidrodi
I don't know how there's not thread for this yet. There's not name for it afaik but it seems to sound like some kind of hyperfuturistic-grime-influenced-experimental-clubby-idm weird thing. https://soundcloud.com/gem-tree/gem-tree-xenobotanica-1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qn3297moQQQ Edited February 2, 2018 by Kidrodi Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/94648-futuristic-club/ Share on other sites
Nil
Huge Amnesia Scanner fan. AS Truth (Mixtape) is simply incredible: https://soundcloud.com/amnesia-scanner/as-truth-mixtape JG Bieberkopf's EP on KNIVES might also be right up your alley: https://soundcloud.com/kxnxv/j-g-biberkopf-spirit-1 If you can dance to it, then TCF is stupidly good: https://soundcloud.com/liberationtechnologies/tcf-54-c6-05-1c-13-cc-72-e9-cc-dc-84-f2-a3-ff-cc-38-1e-94-0d-c0-50-5c-3e-e8 And of course, anything by Hiele is pure gold (more influenced by footwork than grime though). I did know about TCF and AS obviously though I've yet to hear this new mixtape so thanks for the reminder. I do love Footworks as well. Jlin reminds me of this style as well, this real loud hard hitting of the wall kind of stuff. I find though there are a lot of artists in this scene in more of a Reggaeton type of sound which I'm not into at all unfortunately. joshuatxuk
does WWWINGS count as this as well? Nil
@Kidrodi: the last track one the AS TRUTH (MIXTAPE) drives me nuts! I can't wait for some new AS. I believe that TCF teased some new material, really looking forward to it. @joshuatx: WWWINGS has released quite abunch of stuffs since their µ album, right? I quite liked their LP, any thing else from them to recommend? Thanks! I for one am super excited by the hyper-digital take on club music some pf those artists have. Aside from the artsits mentioned here, I try to give a listen to everything that gets released by UIQ, Ekster, PAN, Halcyon Veil, Whities, KNIVES, Janus, NON... Same. It feels like a completely fresh forward looking reimagining of dance music reminiscent of what I imagine the early Braindance days were like. One might say Arca already is pretty much the new Aphex. Here's some more stuff I like: Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/94648-futuristic-club/#findComment-2606136 Share on other sites
pcock
i saw sophie at the art school a few weeks back, and was very impressed actually. the whole set sounded like this ultra dark, squelching, rythmically ambiguous quagmire of bass swells, clattering percussion and disjointed, harmonically unconnected stabs and chord sequences. nothing like that shitty hyper gloss pop pc stuff stuff i was expecting. errorsmith also played and absolutely blinding set of deconstructed breakcore mixed with live audio sample manipulation. it was the most future club music ive heard out and about (apart from maybe autechre live at subclub 5 years ago) and there was a full 1000 people in attendance attempting to dance to music that doesnt fundamentally have a regular pulse. Nil
Early Errorsmith material is stupidly amazing, proper computer funk. I saw him live 10 years ago, playing with SoundHack as Smith N Hack and it was fantastic, digital disco mind bending lushness (one of the best gig I've attended). Alva Noto's more rythmic material is stunning as well, both on record and on stage: I saw him perform the TransAll trilogy live and once again, one of the best live set I've seen / heard... (even if, esthetically, a bit different from the musicians mentioned in that topic already). Insanely groovy and futuristic at once, and so physically engaging. First Jam City's LP is awesome and quite relevant here I suppose: Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide Nil's signature Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/94648-futuristic-club/#findComment-2606304 Share on other sites

Their backstory is pretty cool - all from different areas in the CIS (Ukraine and far flung parts of Russia) which is pretty inspiring when you think of all the partisan shit going on with their governments. Props to mentioning Jam City and Eygptrixxx, they and other Night Slugs artists were honing on this sound ages ago. Arca and Jam City also produced most of that Kelela album everyone was gushing over last year. Kidrodi
Please share more! Are the usual latin influences a turn off for anybody else? I can dig the trap influences and all but when the reggaeton comes in... This is one's great though. Also Lorenzo Senni is amazing. Please more of this. Nil
I've spun Chevel's recent tracks a lot lately, even if less hmm internet-conscious ? than a lot of things mentioned here, his tunes are pretty amazing. Lots of topic-relevent material to be heard on Conditional as well. Some of the artists / tunes featured on Timedance's Patina Echoes compilation are great too. By the way, Amensia Scanner's LP is so next-level I've barely listened to anything else since its release. That and Gabor Lazar / GB & Mark Fell's LPs. I previewed some of that Chevel album on Bandcamp and reminded me of something I'd hear on Raster, right up my alley. Yeah, the stuff from this scene seems to be really internet-y and pop influenced which I guess is alright. I appreciate it more than I like it. The experimental side is the one that grabs me most. Nil
I'd recommend checking Chevel's Always yours too, on Mumdance's Different Circles. Equally as good as In a rush and Mercurial, with a different vibe though. A tad more hmmm urban (fwiw) maybe?
