buckley
Hello everyone, I'm looking for a budget laptop setup to fuck around with at home. I'm talking computer/tablet, controller and sound card with channels that allow for cueing. I would like to have jog wheels that are responsive enough, and a computer/tablet with enough power, that I can spin tracks out, search for tracks, etc comfortably with no cpu problems. I've played with Virtual DJ and it seems to be fine. Any opinions? I've done some preliminary research but the market is so flooded with products that it's hard to know where to start. In short, I'm looking for a setup that will never leave my living room but is not so cheap that it's unusable or fucks up during normal mixing Thanks Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/94751-budget-living-room-dj-setup/ Share on other sites

thawkins
I have used Mixxx as a software which is free and open source. I have played in public a couple of times and it hasn't failed me. https://www.mixxx.org/ As for controller, I have just used a 4-out interface through a regular DJ mixer, but that Behringer thing BCM linked looks really nice. Should be fairly straightforward to set up with Mixxx as well. buckley
Thanks for the replies. I mean 'thanxxx'. So Mixxx, the Behringer controller and an ipad? Would that all work together? thawkins
Mixxx even has keyboard shortcuts which will do in a pinch but it is also easy to map any controller to the UI using the built-in wizard. I once mapped my M-Audio Axiom Air32Mini (or something) as a Mixxx controller and it was pretty smooth. I could even load songs without the computer keyboard.
